Jett the Sniffly @ 1 month

Dear Jetty Bug, you’re a whole month old!

I’m not sure help people with their birthdates on 31st of the month celebrate month birthdays but let’s just say today is your one month birthday.
You are doing very well my dear. Feeding is going well, although last three nights you have been a little bit sick, blocked snotty nose and a little bit of a cough. When you cough, it’s small and so cute, and breaks my heart. We had some friends over on the weekend and today is later Riley got a sniffle and they later you got a sniffle. I’m hoping it doesn’t progress to anything more serious than a bit of a snotty nose and a little bit of cough.
You’ve been feeding every 2 to 4 hours, Usually for 40 minutes to an hour. You look very happy and content when you’re on the breast, as if it was your happiest place in the world. I still think it’s amazing how are tuned my body is to yours. Usually I can wake up in the middle of the night, I’ll become aware of full breasts, just minutes before you wake up or start moving your mouth around ready for a feed. I’m also hoping I’m producing ample antibodies in the milk to help you fight off this cold.

Nights have been pretty rough, because I can hear every single sound you make, even every single movement, and it keeps me awake. With your sniffly nose I’m up the whole night checking on you, trying to make you comfortable, and doing what I can to settle you to sleep.

During the day you’re much better. In the morning you tend to sleep after a feed. Around lunchtime you are more awake and want to look around, and don’t mind tummy time. Then in the afternoons after about 5 pm you want to feed a lot; an hour on and hour off.

We’ve been doing some tummy time after feeds, even a week or more ago you had pretty good neck strength, able to lift your head and turn from one direction to the other.

The new house is lovely, there’s plenty of space for you, you’re noisy brother, mum and dad, and grandma when she visits. It’s also a great house to have friends over and entertain.

I’m excited about being able to drive soon, there’s so much I want to buy and do in the garden.
