Riley in China

Riley is almost 10 months now and he is crawling. He started crawling last Saturday and is now very confident on his hands and knees. He’s very good at crawling forwards but he hasn’t quite worked out how to turn, so he tends to only one direction, stop, sit up, look around for where he wants to go, then get back on all fours and crawl towards it.

Today is our third full day in China and so far he has met his “ah ta” which is his mums father’s mum. So my grandmother on my dad side we met her on Tuesday, we went to the nursing home with dad and dad’s younger sister are cool and she was waiting for us. She was excited about having a family come over and especially her little great grandson. She looked healthy and fit moving around alright, but her memory wasn’t so good constantly forgetting how old he was after about six or seven times asking his age she did remember and asked whether he was 10 months as a question instead of what age he was.

It was sad to see my grandmother in the nursing home, while she seemed happy and there were plenty of nice nurses and caretakers around. The room looked nice and had an ensuite, which she shared with another lady. I guess I remember her as a much more active lady with black hair grey vision and hearing and memory.
See my auntie Ahgu was nice. She looked much the same although she is a grandmother herself now. After seeing my grandmother at the nursing home auntie Dad and us we went to lunch. And guess what, we had hairy crabs there.

The restaurant didn’t serve any but they suggested we go to the market downstairs and buy them fresh and they will cook them up for us. Ahgu bought 4 females 4 male crabs and I had one at the restaurant it was so delicious just steamed and dipped in soy sauce. Michael and Ahgu also had one each (dad ran off to meet people at his exhibition). Michael thought it was delicious but too fiddley.
